Treatment at DaVita

By choosing treatment at DaVita centres, you choose quality and safety.

From the very beginning, DaVita have placed great emphasis on improving the quality of treatment. From year to year, we obtain better and better medical results in dialysis patients. The adequacy of dialysis, anemia treatment and phosphatemia control in patients we care for, reach values consistent with international and national recommendations. At the same time, every deviation from high standards of treatment is recorded in a modern system designed to monitor such events. Then, as a team, we analyse the causes and introduce measures to make they do not happen again. Continuous development is one of our core values.

We not only care about the quality of treatment, but also about its highest possible level of safety. It is supervised by qualified medical, nursing, technical and support staff who, thanks to cooperation and development opportunities at DaVita, are constantly improving their qualifications.

DaVita's medical team also offers various educational programs for our patients to improve their health. One of them concerns optimal vascular access for example. This way we encourage patients to actively and consciously participate in this process.

Most importantly—we approach each patient individually. In addition to professional medical care, you can count on warm, caring and committed care. We want you to feel at home in our centre and we do our best to achieve it!

Original treatment quality system

From the beginning to the end, it’s all about the patient. When they feel good after dialysis, they can freely spend time with their loved ones, devote themselves to their work or passions, it means that we have all done our duties as best as possible. This also means that our entire treatment system works.

How do we approach clinical quality at DaVita? Every day, we act in accordance with two of our core values: Service Excellence and Continuous Improvement. The daily goals of our clinical teams in dialysis clinics are to extend the life of patients, reduce the need for hospitalization and improve their quality of life.

To achieve them, at DaVita we focus on organizing work according to our proprietary clinical quality management system. It consists of many interrelated elements, each of which has a meaning. If we do each of them well, it will be reflected in clinical outcomes, patient well-being and their comfort of life.

What does the original quality system at DaVita consist of?

  • Patient safety – ensuring the highest standards of care and minimizing the risks and damages associated with the services provided, focusing on areas for improvement and learning from mistakes.

  • Clinical practices – the manner of providing clinical services and activities in accordance with current knowledge and recommendations.

  • Medical outcomes – control and monitoring of key indicators in dialysis (adequacy of dialysis, treatment of anaemia, control of phosphatemia), but also others, such as unplanned hospitalisations, adequate vascular access to dialysis, timely qualification for transplantation and others.

  • Patient experience – taking care for comfort of the patient, trust and partnership in the treatment process.

Thanks to daily mindfulness and continuous improvement of skills by our doctors, nurses and caregivers, we build a safe climate for our organization. We believe that quality can be improved every day, and the key to this is a strong safety culture at all stages of the therapeutic process. As a result, we develop a space for learning and improvement in the team.

That is why there are daily meetings in each of our dialysis clinics – Huddle. These are short meetings, usually held once a day at the beginning of the working day, to discuss the quality and safety of teamwork. What are the practical benefits of daily Huddle for the dialysis team? First of all, they are conducive to finding quick solutions to improve the quality of care, serve joint learning and build the responsibility of the entire team for the quality of medical care.

We use an adverse event reporting system and are constantly developing it. Root cause analysis of events and their quantitative trends is an important step towards caring for patient safety and preventing the problem from happening again in the future.

At DaVita, everyone feels responsible for the health of our patients. We feel and understand the trust that the patient and his family have placed in us when they decide to undergo treatment in our centers. This makes us realize the importance of constantly improving the quality of care we provide.
